real world chance of that happening is 0.

unless they get so stunned, they proceed to turn the steering wheel to full lock, slam the brakes, all in a car with a rooted suspension.
which would be pretty fecking silly.

or the chance that they might get a fright, think its the car sliding or whatever, and do the usual first reaction of hitting the brakes (usually in combination with steering input) which causes you to pile into their car, potentially casusing them to spin out, hitting either oncomming traffic, or some roadside obsiticle.

Either way, I wouldn't want to take that chance, and risk being that muppet who is paraded in front of NZ every day on the news.
There was a near fatal a couple of weeks back near cambridge due to some tailgating muppet, who repeatedly tailgated a car that was in traffic, then over took dangerously, before jamming on the brakes, causing the car following to lock the brakes, swerving into the oncomming traffic. End result, a head on crash, 2 people in critical condition in hospital, one of which only just got out of intensive care, and will likely need ongoing treatment for life.
They're still looking for the Falcon that caused the accident. No doubt someone that expressed some of the view expressed in this thread.

Every time you think something bad has a low probability of happening usually add a lot to the probability of it occuring, as it means you're more likely to be less aware of the risk of it happening.
