Sweet thank you.

I'm quite keen, although I'm going to have to get a storage lockup at this rate to park my vehicles.

The 2kcup is showing that a well driven AE111 Blacktop is very competitive indeed ! Al Dunkleys car was a $1000 pink sticker special, which got WOF rego and prepped and now owes around $2000, which got Pole at Round 2, winning race 1, setting a lap record , and led race 2 until fuel pressure issues sidelined it...

Come on other AE111 owners, join in ! It's fun, friendly, safe and low cost.

Would be interesting to dyno that car, it seemed a little too fast in a straight line

He did well, as the blacktop is pretty famous for exiting conrods stage left during race events :)

Seen that happen a few times!

... not as often as WRX's running bearings at Manfeild though, which is about 50% of them ...

You'd be welcome to dyno any/all of our three standard cars. You'd be finding them to be stock standard, albeit with high kilometres.

I wasn't inferring you were cheating, but it seems like an extra healthy motor to be achieving that performance. It'll be interesting to see it against the front runners at the next round, to see if it's quicker in different areas rather than in outright power compared to the B18c Hondas and SW20s.

There's always the possibility of modifications you're not aware of, so unless the engine has been stripped down, measured and weighed etc you can't always be sure it's completely stock. Hence why it'd be interesting to see it on the dyno for comparison purposes.

We bought three random AE111 from 3 Trademe sellers , in 3 different towns , over a three month period. They all "feel" the same in terms of output of power, acceleration etc.

What you see with the results is due to differences in driver ability. One car is driven by a complete novice, another is driven by a very experienced Kart / Swift Cup/ F5000 driver, and the third by a driver returning after 25 year break....

I seriously doubt there are any mods to be found on any of these cars from previous owners. But be my guest, dyno them if you want :)

The actual point of my post was to say:

If you want to try Motorsport in a safe, friendly and cheap series, then get your AE111 Blacktop (standard) out and join in the 2k Cup

We are having a ball, and even if we were mid field or lower, it's still a lot of fun, learning tracks, lines etc.

Bravo and Thanks to James Watson and crew for formulating and promoting
2k Cup. !!

Nothing against the 2k cup but how it different from doing a winter series meeting at taupo?

the entry fee is less, you dont have to deal with all the car rules and its still
very competitive as your classed according to times?

Probably easier for us because we are Akl based. 4 of 6 rounds are at HD. And simple level rules. Doesn't mean we haven't been to, or will return to Taupo in the future.

yeah but im auckland based and we go to taupo..
and then all the people that go "can i have this or that mod" can do it.
and then if people wanna spend 10k on there race car they can and if people dont thats fine and everyones still having fun.
