Put the rear bumper etc back on it after getting it back from some paint and panel repairs.

Load it on the trailer tomorrow to go off to the signwriters to get it all put back on again.

All sorts of features on them too that you can play with. Nice and bright no matter what the weather as they brighten up in the sunlight and dull down at night automatically - not that the night feature would bother you Matt!!

Converted the BT C56 gearbox to AW linkage. Took about 2 minutes with a cutting disc and angle grinder.
See ya

Dragged it out of the dark corner of the workshop and changed the rotors and pads. Probably gonna change to different pads soon. These don't really work when cold.

DBA discs and hawk hp+ pads from mpsgarage.com.au. Genuine is dusty and inconsistent. I'd go Hawk HPS I think

Fitted starter and injector resistor pack.
Started it for first time (first time for this engine). It runs!!! $&#$% loud without downpipe or wastegates.
started assembling down pipe, found out that due to different turbo position between ST165 and ST205 down pipe does not match up to the rest of the exhaust (off by about 3-4cm).
Then proceeded putting on external wastegates, which due to larger ST205 exhaust manifold no longer fit (one of the waste gates interferes with exhaust manifold)..

Damn. :(

These problems I cannot fix myself (due to lack of skill and welder equipment).

So I will need to tow the car to someone who can extend one of the waste gate pipes and realign the exhaust to the downpipe...

Once I resolve this issue, next step will be addressing hubs (pressing in and out bearings again) as ST202 hubs are definitely not equal to ST165 (they looked the same, should have measured them :(). Then I will need to find a better radiator for the intercooler...

I will also have to talk to Barry regarding his suspension kits, but that is after I address the wastegate issue...

Here are the photos:

Bought a laptop, installed the link and had a nosey at the last tune (so much for seller saying it'd never been used). Time to build the motor and get it tuned.

Went to Pukekohe to take some pics at a track day but ended up putting my car on the track instead
Few things I've taken away from the day is that the Starlet is very tail happy, i need a bigger radiator, need better tyres and to finally get it tuned properly

Changed the linkage on the C56 to suit the AW. About 2 minutes with the angle grinder did it.

Image

Cut up the OEM seal and glued it in place.

Image

Also fitted my TRD LSD into the C56. All torqued up and saw the gearbox magnet sitting on the floor. It had fallen out when I split the box and I didn't notice it sitting there. Contemplating just leaving it where it landed seeing as it's not a road car and doesn't do a lot of km's. If it is going to go bang on the track, I suspect the magnet won't help much.

New extractors arrived today, courtesy of Rush Automotive. Should help the 7K breath a little easier. 8)

Took it to bent sprints at Puke, got thrashed, had some fun, took out some cones. Had a couple of high pucker factor moments when the current suspension setup got a bit unsettled by some of the bumps at turns 9 & 10. Upgrades required.

Decided to give this driving in a straight line form of racing of go, so stuck the race numbers I picked up the other night on the quarter windows, threw an offcut of wood under the battery to help secure it properly and texted a mate to make sure I had another similar (ie slow) car to do some grudge matches with.
