Drunk f***wit's written my car off!

Postby Sick Puppy » Sun Jul 10, 2005 3:20 pm

Well, I guess I'm living up to my nickname, as right now I'm sick as a dog- literally woke up with a bang this morning when some muppet kid smashed into the back of my car with his dad's ute. He was drunk.

Car is a write off.

Bugger.

Alarm and stereo went in on thursday. Thank the big guy upstairs for insurance...

96 Toyota Curren, Manual, Black, mild spoiler kit and white Enkei alloys. Won't be finding another one of those in a hurry...

Yup, alarm went off, the equivalent of saying "Oi! Owner! I've just been f***ed up the a*** by a hilux...". Still, at least it was another Toyota...

P & P = $10k; Car insurance = $11k assuming they pay full amount (ooh, they'd better!). Boot is very, very squashed. Nup, it's a write off... will try and get photos and see what you think.

Will go there this week and try and get stereo and alloys- I liked those enkeis! Oh well, now- what car to get next...

Hey dude, my friend has a 1994ish Curren, that he is thinking of selling.

Its DISTURBINGLY immaculate, and he is a car audio freak, it has the cleanest sound install you will ever find.

PM me if you are interested!

Hi ya RomanV,

May be interested in the Curren- is it auto or manual, and how many K's? Then, the killer question- how much?!?

Don't know what I will be doing yet- am considering a few options, but may just sit back for a while and make the most of the fact that I live in the middle of town... firstly I have to sort out my insurance!

Thanks for the offer though, keep me posted when your friend decides!

Just as an aside, idiot boy came back with his gf and dad to get their dog. idiot boy had gone by time I calmed down enough to go down there (really wanted to break his nose!), but I told his dad what I thought of him. Don't think he cared- obviously idiocy runs in the family... apparently he's been done before- hopefully when he meets bubba in jail he'll learn this time...

Hey dude, its a manual transmission, about 150XXX ks, and I am unsure about price.

Let me know if you are interested later, and I will ask him.

Phew, thats lucky, 2 toyotas killed in 1 go...
Must agree with pyscho dad on this one.

Atleast you got insurance, so its not too bad.
Still, the inconvenience of not having a car and all that sh*t.

Aw c'mon guys, cut the Curren some slack- it's got the same engine as the Celica, but with the added bonus of being much better looking! :) And yes, it's MUCH better looking!

Blackie, I would love to say that both vehicles got taken out, but all that prick needed was the radiator reconnected and away he went- a few hours with a hammer and it would be (roughly) back to normal... boy would I like a few minutes with a hammer with its owner...

Assessor is pricing cost of repair  will be interested to see what they come back to me with for a valuation...

RomanV and Santa'sBoostinSleigh, thanks for the offers, and I will give you a proper bell once I get sorted in about a month- have a few things to take care of money wise, and also have to decide whether I wanna stay with the Curren... oh, decisions decisions!

Oh, just curious, but erm, "Real Car"? Now, answers on a postcard here, or am I starting a new Posting for what to buy with $10-15k?

Well, assessor called, and things got interesting... well, okay, just annoying.

Basically he's vying for a repair 8O- figures it will cost about $5700, which against my $11k value... he's told me nothing about the damage to my car- I have no idea about the state of the chassis or anything. Not a happy bunny, and work's been halted until I get some answers.

Anybody know of any good stories of a chassis being straightened and being driveable again? I mean, I dunno if it *is* bent, but a rear off centre collision by a Ute at 70k? I figure it's bent! :(

Police are onto it already, and awaiting results for drink driving, and going for reckless driving anyway. What a chump- I'm entertaining far too many dark thoughts at the mo...

Ive know of several cars being put up on the chassis straightening machine, results were good. Only thing I dont get is the metal has already been bent, so when you straighten it, surely it just fatigues more?...unless some streghtening is added also.
Cant believe im still a member here.

That would be my thoughts. As it has lost a lot of its rigidity, the metal won't be anywhere near as strong as before unless its reinforced with metal plating.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Don't worry about chassis repair, as long as you take it to a reputable repairer, it will in all probability be better than factory! There are horror stories.. I had a mate with a 93 WRX, got in a minor fender bender, when he went to get it repaired, 1" thick chunks of bog fell off the chassis rails! Turns out the chassis rails had rust holes filled with bog! 8O
