I thought it may have been a Morris of some sorts but the indicator switch is above the horn so its possibly not.

Actually you're probably right...has been some time since I've seen inside an A50, but it vaguely reminds me of one

Not a Morris :) And not an Austin :)

Some info? :)

The dash is bakelite, there is a knob for the vacumn operated wipers, one for the choke, one for the starter (it's a bendix not a solenoid if that gives away any clues ) and one for the dash lights. The switch around the key is for the lights.

If you look carefully you can make out the hood ornament through the wet windshield

Haha showed that pic to dad before and asked what it was.

Within about a second he had replied "Ford prefect, that propellor looking thing winds the windscreen forwards"

Crazy old men.

Is your mate restoring it or rodding it?
If he is rodding it call it a 48 when re-registering so it meets pre 49 requirements. No one will be able to tell anyway.

triva - the "Prefect" badge can easily be modified to read "reject":
- Remove the "P"
- Remove the top of the "f" (it's got a "descender" on it like a "j")

a (extremely geek) friend of mine had deliberately done this to the badge on his Ford Prefect.
