Changing from p/plate

Postby MyXsPtLk » Fri Dec 09, 2005 8:20 pm

Hey guys I might sell my car but I want to keep the p/plate that's currently on there. How do I get a new plate for it? I hope it won't cost a couple hundred or something

Go to AA (I think) or VTNZ, only costs smething small, like $14 or so (Was 14 last time I did it) they give you a new set of plates then and there I think. Take a plate off your car in with you if you can (or have the car there with the P plates on them)

Its been a while since I did it, but Im sure thats how it was.

Yep, I did it at the AA. They wouldn't give me the new plates till I showed them my PPlates and they had to be off the car. They also gave me a new rego tag (with the new number on it). Same deal when I put the PPlates back on my new car.

thanks for the replies guys, they charged you the same for putting th p/plates back on?? When I put my plates on, I brought in the old plates, the p/plates and they charged me 5 cents or 55 cents or something ridiculously small. That was the cost of printing the new rego tag apparently, but yea all it cost was that. But I'll bring 14 just in case, thanks again guys

do you think it would be cheaper going straight to the vtnz than going thru AA?

It's $14 cause that's the cost of remanufacturing a new set of plates.

And it would be the same price at all the LTSA agents.

Now that I think about it, I think it depnds on how much rego is still current. I put a set of P plates onto a car that the rego was on hold, and it didnt cost anything. But when taking P plates off, they charged $14 (but the rego still had current months on it)

I guess it cost 25c to put your p/plates on cos you already have the plates but to get back to standard plates it cost 14 to manufacture new plates?

to take them off

take off both p plates and take them in. you have to show them both and the old redg tag. they will print you out a new redg label and a new set of plates for the car. bout 14 bucks as said above. you hang on to the p plates

to put them on new car.

take in both orignal plates (both) and p plates (both) they take the old plates off you and print you out a new tag (0.25c)

easy as
