cold air intake questions

hi there, i got this airtake pipe for my silvertop its pretty hehe ... but anyways, ive drove it around and found that it got really warm/hot. is there some tips or something you guys do to wrap it up to cool it down? cheers

is it a blingy chrome one :P

if you really want to, wrap it in heat wrap

an engine bay is always going to get hot tho, got pics of your bay, put em up, will give us an idea what you mean.

Of course, there is no point in bothering to keep the pipe itself cold if its sucking hot air anyway.

its got cold air feed from the front . . . in the silver thingy from the factory air box. . . took a cra ppie pic . . . not sure if you can see it

yea your best bet as hrt said is build a box around it, closing it off from the engine bay, if done right, only cold air coming thru the front will get to the filter

thats a very nice turbo 20v hrt . . . im trying not to spend to much time on it . . . its getting cold air . . . but the pipe where the air going into the throttle is really hot after driving . . . and i need some ideas or tips from you guy which can keep the temp down. thanks

heat wrap that pipe?
and make a cold air box with good ducting to take in more cold air.

its not cooking foil, whoever uses cooking foil needs to be slapped, lol.

Well you seem to want to get as much cold air as poss, so why not remove one of the lights :P it would make you look real cool, and all the 15yo's in their carbied civs would give you da mad respectz yo :twisted:

Only if you make a habit of doing river crossings in your car, or have a lot of 1 foot deep puddles round where you drive :lol:

Ah...

I think he is referring to the location of the filter, not the fact he doesnt have a bumper attached to the car (or windscreen).
