Postby UZZ30 » Mon Jan 02, 2006 5:23 pm

Any one have an idea of average costs for a decent stock shinny paint job on a large coupe?

Who are the best people in Auckland for car paint jobs?

Costs can vary widely, anywhere from $500 upwards. Depends on the condition of the car to start with, and what type of paint.
1988 KE70 Wagon - Slowly rusting
1990 NA6 MX-5 - because reasons
2018 Ranger - Because workcar
1997 FD3S RX-7 Type R - all brap, all the time
OMG so shiny!

If it was only $500, my MR2 wouldn't be pink till this day.

You're looking at $2k+ for a decent job. Stripping paint, interior and trims, then bog, prime, paint.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

If you can do it yourself or with some mates you should be able to do it fairly cheap.

$400 will do a couple of coats of paint + a few coats of clear on a small sedan. We did an escort Pannel Van from the bare metal for $800 at cost, and a mate spent $1100 on an Integra doing it himself (7 clear coates!).

It really depends what your doing. If the clear coat is fading / flaking, then you can get away without having to prime the whole thing, and you wont need so many coats of paint.

I think that to get a complete paintjob that you would be happy with, it would cost AT LEAST 2 grand.

There's a lot of work involved!

Labour costs++

And yeah Akane, is your idea to drive so fast, that no one can see your paint?

For a good job it's about $250 per panel,
Four guards, two doors, bonnet, boot, front and rear.
10 panels $2500.
