That really has to rip your undies, doesn't look unretrievable though.

Looks very repairable, front and rear window openings look straight so probably not twisted. Also, damage to body does not seem to be around major points of the chassis/roll cage. Given it is effectively just a shell dropped over a cage it shouldn't take them too long to resurrect it.

dosn't look too bad, mainly cosmetic, unlike the starlet i was using at Levels yesterday, which is a write-off (thank god it was caged though).

no. second course, first run. car owner clipped ripple strip, run wide, lost back, it dug in and the rest(including the car) is history. was very unfortunate, as his times on the first course were good, and had he triggered the clock as he rolled over the timing gear he could have been in the hunt, i believe the time was pretty good.

Now i wonder who the first idiot (read: Parlimentarian, tv station, local yobbo, goverment official that was affected by the sound of it) will be the first to complain and say that drag racing is a dangerous sport and should be banned,

Thank goodness for roll cages!
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

if they do, i won't be only drag racing in the firing line. as long as all event safety plans were followed, and the permit was correct for the type of event held, then there shouldn't be any recourse..........for now

OSH no.

Police, yes, every time there is an injury even if it is just a car driving into a wall.

On behalf of the entire Lakeside International Dragway team, i'd like to pass on our condolences to Rod, Terry and their team for the accident on Saturday. We're glad that first and formost Rod is OK, and that info we've heard indicates the car is repairable.

There are a lot of people asking what happened, so rather than speculate, heres the video we have from the day.
