lol
practise in someone elses car... thats funny!

Simple formula: Max amount of power you can put down _without_ wheelspinning will be the best launch you can do.

So practise finding the limit between wheel spin and not...

this is whats worked for me...

give it about 4500 revs and ride the clutch out bordering on wheelspin then once momentum is gained let the clutch out fully and give it HEAPS but be sure not to bounce it off the limiter as all power will be lost! i see so many people doing this(on the limiter in 1st after launch) at the likes of the 4&rota nats and its a shame as there ET's will be effected quite a bit! otherwise launch in 2nd gear  but maybe without a turbo this could be difficult!
speed on brother

Launching in second is bloody nasty on everything. I'm sorry to say this but if you don't wanna wear your clutch/car out stay away from the dragstrip.

Slipping the clutch in a 2wd seems to be a winner, try around 4500-5000 rpm and ease out the clutch till its about to bite when the lights are about to countdown, then as you lift of the clutch add more revs but as said before don't hit the limiter.

Just practice, took me a few drag meetings until I could get 1.9 60fts with street 205s and a single spinner diff ;)

Or you could do it in a way thats a little easier on the clutch but harder on tires, dial up just enough revs to spin the wheels a little bit - say 3k in your car for starters, dump the clutch on the yellow (you running a pro tree??) and then drive it out of there just as fast as you can. By drive i mean actually use throttle control untill you stop spinning and then nail it every all the way to the finish. This has been the best way 've found and it's netted me a 2.0 best and on average 2.1-2.2 60s, thats in a fwd single spinner so the same as yours in theory, maybe just a little lighter than yours.

They're all lying.

As I've said before, all cars come factory fitted with launch control.

You'll normally find its set juuuust after the little red lines on the tacho turn red.

This may result in a bit of wheelspin.

Ako sounds like he knows what he's talking bout.

What you do for the best possible launch is:

Hold clutch all the way in.
Rev till the valves starts bouncing.
Drop clutch in very quick motion.
Then after that don't lift your foot from the gas, just quickly kick the clutch pedal and change gear when you need to so you don't loose any of your revs. 8)

Ironic thing is thats' how I race any 4WD I get into

8200rpm clutch dump = 1.7sec 60ft in a 1550 kilo car

When attempted with 225/18's all around = Centre diff + gearbox destroyed, rear diff spat all over the track

I've got the video somewhere online if anyones curious

I think its rather difficult to have a "Best" way to launch a FWD car.

It would all depend on tyre type (street/semislick/full slick) wouldnt it. And of course, prepped, non prepped, air pressure in the tyres...

Also warming up the tyres before the race. Burning out street tyres doesnt do alot, so its up to you wether you trash them on the strip, but in semi-slicks like alot of people use, doing a good burnout helps alot...

IE: The one time i did NOT burnout my semi-slicks, launching at 3000rpm sent it to the red faster than you could blink, and not moving very far :P

Whereas, after a good heat up, launching at 6000rpm with a full clutch dump, they chirped a bit, hooked up, and shot me down the strip like a rubber band 8O lol

But in all cases, practice practice practice. After a good amount of drags in mine, im still trying to decide what point it best for me. It takes time.
