We have launch!!!

Postby BBBrad » Wed Apr 26, 2006 8:55 pm

After a long time and 2 sets of launch interfaces from gizzmo im all go. Went for a drive tonight. Flat shifting is good...flames coming out the side and top of my car (looks cool)...ears are bleeding, oh and at this early stage I can build 3psi at a low 3500rpm launch.
The car is running good, will be getting the first of 2 tunes hopefully this saturday upto 10 psi. Then when completly run in, I'm going back for the 20 psi tune.
See you all at the next toyota/honda drags, (when are they by the way?)
See ya.

Who said it was ugly?? Just funny looking.

Be aiming for a low 12 next time at the strip then brad?? Haven't heard when the next toyvhon drags are but you may have to take it to a regular meet up there at some stage - scare the crap out of some people who haven't seen it before :)

Funny, knew id get a comment on the sig, thats why I changed it. People sometimes ask me why I do up an ugly aw11, I been getting it alot latley. So... I always reply "that it suited my needs". It has nothing to with looks or style (thats never been what its about for me). I mean it has alot of things going for it, m/r layout for good traction and rwd, very good handling, lightish weight, not complex in terms of having no power steering or fancy suspension etc, best of all its cheap. I bought my aw11 for $400. If I was loaded I would go and buy myself a porsch. But im not, so this is the next best thing.
People may comment on how they dont like aw11's, but they've never got enough balls to race me (and thats where its really at).
As for the drags, the goal is a realistic 11.9. I think any faster than that you have to start spending big dollars, expect lots of breakages and be prepared to start trailering it, not fun for me anymore. Going off my 13.2 at 180km+ trap speed with a shocking 2.4 60ft. And now having launch control, more power and hopefully better tyres, I think its going to be all good.
I'll keep you all informed on whats happening.
Cheers

Ahh, bad news on the cooler you gave me, couldnt fix the leak. I made a thermostat block and run a long rotary style cooler under the boot where the exhaust would normally go. Come up really good.
