Still doesnt answer the 2 nagging questions. How it is to be tested, and what the acceptable level is.

Good luck trying to get me to pay $100 to get my exhaust tested again, it just passed a cert along with everything else on my car, its been tested. $&#$% if its getting tested again by me.

yeh now they got this, they start using their subjective testing more and tell peopleto go get thier exhausts checked which they no will fail. They can go suck a fat one, they are concerned about noisey exhausts but dont seem to care about driver education

Well the test it stated as acceptable with some international standard so if you were to go and search for that standard you might get the answer to one of them at least.
I'd imagine the level will be in the upper 80's with a bit of luck or if they are really draconian it will be 84

Which is kind of rediculous seeing as quite a few old but standard cars wouldn't pass that test although they aren't the ones that will be tested. I like the bit about putting a sticker on so if you are pulled up later for side of the road testin you can show them the sticker and be on your way i'd hope, that might be at the discretion of the officer as well how ever.

Mopeds, motorcycles, cars, vans and trucks that weigh up to 3,500 kg.

Your car should be exempt then Warren

Hrrmm... if I install enough sounds into the Supra, that might be exempt too...

To be honest though, good $&#$% luck to them trying to hit up the various harleys on the road with this testing process...

Why do I suspect this is purely going to be an extension to the boyracer law, another tool to get our cars off the road while other people breaking the same laws are ignored...

To be honest i don't think it's the end of the world, if your cars noisey, make it quiter before you get pulled over. Pretty simple really. Some people are their own worst enemies here!

My car is too fukn loud and I know it, I appreciate the idea of quietening down cars like mine.

Will get it sorted sooner than later.

But thats not the point, I can garauntee the new power will be abused. :roll:

I think it has its good points, will get rid of dicks that take their exhuasts off.

But i think that if an officer pulls you over tells you to get it tested, and you pass, then the state should cover the cost and then bill the officer.

specially if you get a pink/green sticker, and then itr passes, it should come back onto the 'crown'

A MINIMUM of $100 for a monkey to hold a guage by an exhaust for 60 seconds.

Where the hell do they get off on that? Scare tactics?

I can see it now.. "boys, we're going to do something about the subjective tests and the backlash - but they're going to have to pay, so book as many people as you can, so we can get these testers paid for and make it look like we're listening and doing the right thing before the hard questions are asked. The people want objective testing, we'll just make the boyracers coff up."

Its a pile of sh1t, thats what it is, they've tried this before and failed, They found previously that by setting a limit like this, alot of standard cars like, v6 and v8 commodores were failing the test, So chances are the current police fleet wil fail, they just need to get rid of some of the real noisy cars
ie. Rotors with basically no exhaust, Harleys

So will VTecs get away with thier stupidly loud induction nioses?
