Postby 2slow4u » Thu Jul 20, 2006 3:37 pm

what do you guys think i should do. is it worth swapping my curren for a ke30?

the curren is a 94 zs
3sge, 5spd 202km thow
black
17" advanti steletos with 1day old tires at $300 each
a 2 1/4" exhust with a 4" tip
and it hads a front kit ( the sides are F@#$%d so i sold them)
and a pod

the ke is on trademe
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 593618.htm

its a 4k
yellow with gold flake paint
17 inch advanti stalkers
recoverd dash with water temp, oil pressuer, volts gages
lowered on 2 inch lowering blocks and cuts in the frnt still legal tho
and the door cards are half done but will be finished if i swap it ( my expence)

is it worth the swap or not?

Currens are rice buckets, but KE30's are rust buckets. Without seeing the KE30 in person, and knowing who/how the paint/bodywork was done id be skeptical. Oh and lose the 17's from the KE30. Put some 14's or 15's on there.

If the KE30 has been panelled properly (ALL rust removed, and soft sealed inside ofe verywhere to stop rust ever coming back) then id say yes. But if you were to go ahead with it id say goodbye to your luxuries, and say hello a life full of bitches and ho's.

Wouldnt bet my mothers life on it. Go have a look in person, 30's arent incredibly bad just a couple of places that are common.

coz they r still in the keepers when it is jaked up there is only 1 coil cut out and i painted the tip black again vtnz didnt pik it up so they must b ligit.all gd bro anythink else? 6:57 pm, Wed 19 Jul

Haha, brilliant. If they didn't see it it must be legal.
First decide why you want an oldschool car, are you willing to put up with the sacrifices? Then if you still buy it either replace the front springs or accept its not legal and risk pink sticker or no insurance if you prang it. Technically the 4K needs to be certed as well.

what are the common places to look for as i will be going to have a look next weekend i think.

but if it gets a wof with the springs does that not mean that the company who gave me the wof liable for the springs? if not where can i get some and how much?
why will it need a cert for the engine?

yeh id nearly rate it on potential/style. a curren has the style of.. well a gumboot.
ke30 have alot more style.. infact they are wicked.. some people say they are the poor mans rx2. very similar body lines, rwd to boot.
alot more potential than a curren. i guess u could put a 3sgte in it and slap some chromes on it and torque steer your way to the rice fields.
or u could slap a 3sgte and chromes (dare i say it, maybe some old RWD classic jap wheels) in the ke30 and man u would have have nothing short of a nz wonder.

From reading the trademe ad it sounds like the guy selling the car wasn't the person who "stripped it all back and took out all the rust". So he is relying on the previous owners honesty about what has been done to the car.
There are still a lot of very original oldschool cars out there for you to buy.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

The grills between the bonnet and windscreen run down the side sof the car and collect in the bottom of the guards so check the very bottom of the guards, rust builds up on the very front of the bonnet under the chrome trim, then just the usual corners of the doors. But just have a real good look for bubbling, and bear in mind, if there is bubbling of any sort, there is plenty more where that came from, and if you dont act on it ASAP youll end up a useless car in a year or two.

He summed that one up perfectly, currens are rice.

Anyway, if this one is definately mint, then go for it. Otherwise sell your curren, find a mint example of an old schooler and start from scratch, that way you KNOW its good. But make sure youre doing it for the right reasons...

haha datsun 1600's are in a class of their own...

i mentioned the ke30 is like the poor-mans RX2, a rebels sports car. the 1600 is like a poor mans BMW, more of a quality luxury sports sedan (not that a ke30 isnt quality)

however, a ke25, and a datsun 1200 i rekon are in the same league.. both small car sports coupes.
