Postby Coke » Wed Sep 20, 2006 12:02 pm

What should i expect to pay for a decent paint job? ruled out doing it myself.

Anyone know any good places?

I'm looking at $2000 to have the Starlet done in red, including door shuts and so on.

That's with me doing the sanding and prep for it.

I repainted my own car, and after seeing how much work it takes, I can understand why paint jobs cost so much!

You definitely get what you pay for, you're never gonna get a mint paintjob for a grand.

In saying that, it's hardly worth getting a $10,000 paint job for a $2000 car.

Quoted me $2400 for a plain toyota red, on just the outside excluding bootlid.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

mine was $4k with rust removal from the sill, rear light holes, rear window. and bit of panel work, fixing of bumper. painted inside doors, boot, engine bay. And had a base coat layed down first then the good stuff as my colour is called a candy apple blue for some reason but his a violet tinge in it, then 2 lots of clear coat.

$250 per panel, so two front guards, two doors, bonnet, boot, roof, 2 bumpers,

Around $2500 for a perfect job guarenteed.

Depend on the paint you choose though.

the paint on some cars can cost up to $1000 per litre.
