I bought a Honda

Yep, went and bought a Honda for no good reason. Well, birthday treat for yesterday I guess. 1986 CBR250 MC14. Goes bloody well for its age, happily revs to 17,000rpm before redline. 21,000kms on it. 4 stroke 4 cylinder. She hums along quite nicely :) Going for learners on Tuesday :lol:

Awww come on, you'll know me for at least another week or so. Not going to be stupid on it, and am being ultra-weary of other people on it. Just cant seem to help winding it out every so often

Well I'd been playing with the pit bike for ages when Pervert came down to get some work done in the weekend. He bought his road bike down a bit later and said I could take it for a little ride. Its now less than a week later and I've been and got my handling certificate thing, bought a $4000 bike and my licence test is booked in for Tuesday morning pretty much as soon as the testing station opens :lol:

Wished I had the money for a later model one, probably not the best idea for a learners bike. They rev past 19,000rpm....

Bikes are the bestest ever, so much fun, takes your mind off anything - its great.

Just respect it, and youll be fine. They are like 'woman', if you treat them bad they will bitch slap you, and youll know about it.

Add me to that list. My Ninja's just used to taunt me. 160mph, helmet bouncing, arms tight, unable to turn at all, and the ZX7R just used to sit there and scream "You are seriously a pussy, at least crack the throttle over 3/4 open!" And they don't do anything but scream "You are a pussy!", you could have taken that corner faster, your knee slider has too much meat on it, you didn't get over the front faring enough to accelerate faster, you could have braked harder... seriously fun, seriously licence threatening, seriously life threatening.... well for a fruit cake like me.

shit they havnt come down in price much...

cbr250rr's used to go for 3-3.5 for a nice one!

bikes next on my list after ive got the cars sorted. got any pics of it man?

Heh. I handed my motorbike licence in after I had to bail off the bike to avoid somebody driving around a double parked car. Nothing quite like looking straight into the grill of a car coming towards you, to give you feelings of mortality.

1992 CBR250RR they had there was $7000 I think. 20,000kms on that too. Decided the older one was more affordable/better for me than the newer one. Would have been nice but its a lot of money for something I could just end up dropping anyway

160mph Redmist? Went for a blat on the motorway for the hell of it. Got to around 170kmish before the wind gusts started scaring me too much

I'd love an MC22, just a bit more money than I can find really

The closed circuit raceway I was on (M1) was very long, straight and well paved. The wheels rotate at such speed they gyro and don't allow you to turn the front wheel. Wind gusts didnt effect me, but slight aerodynamic issues with my aero helmet made for a bumpy ride (even though my chin was on the tank and I was well under the miniscule screen)

200mph + on a bike.... Those guys are the crazy of the crazy. I'm just mildly so.

Similar thing only slightly different made me give up bikes. Car on wrong side of road round decreasing radius right hander, straightened up to avoid car by the time i got the bike cranked over again was a bit late and ended up low siding on the gravel shoulder and sliding between a lamp post nad fence post on my back. Was pretty lucky to not hit either really as i remember a vision of the bike flying about 6 feet off the ground and hitting both posts. Bang no more bike and the guy in the car didn't even stop. Luckily mates were on hand to take me back to town, had been having a game of golf with them. At the time i hit the deck i was only doing about 85kph but i still slid about 35meters. Not a graze on me just a big bruise on my leg which i think i got from the handle bars before the bike hit whatever it did to get off the ground.

Best advise i can give you is be extra carefull of everything, by the best protective gear you can afford. And above all watch the idiots who's best excuse is "oh i didn't see you sorry your a paraplegic now but if you had been in something bigger my coke botle thickness glasses would have been able to magnify you enough for me to see and actually stop at that stop sign which i should have stopped at anyhow".

So in summation if your really keen on keeping it you should write your will now and don't worry about being an organ donor as they will be to damaged to use.

I think I'd hurt myself more on the dirtbike to be honest. Am being careful on the bike, kind of treating every vehicle as if the driver is a complete moron (is it just me or does that seem to be most of them?). Good bit of fun for now, I may change me mind when it gets away from me :lol:

Yeah it seems like a fair bit for a bike that 20 years old, but its bugger all kms and I haven't really heard a bad thing about any of the CBRs. And after looking around at quite a few other bikes both from dealers and privately, it seems like quite a reasonable price. Be nice to have the extra money to get the MC22, but then again its still a 250. For the same money as the MC22 you could get a very tidy and newer CBR600. Damn you licence structure!

Fair enough about the dirt bike i guess it's how hard you push and who you ride with as to that.
Stupid licence system with the 250 restrictions, fair enough not carrying passengers for a start but what the pople who put the licence restrictions on don't realise is that i's not generally the people on the bikes killing themselves it's the the idiot's in cars killing the people on bikes. The few times that i came off because it was my fault were stupid low speed stuff and all that ever cost me was an indicator and clutch lever.
Guess it's just another thing where they make the rules for the 1% of the population that will kill themselves and enforcing it on 100% of the rest of us
