gt4 spoiler

Postby TRDmod » Mon Dec 11, 2006 10:30 pm

Just a quick question
has anyone done any tests on the different with a 3 post spoiler the low sitting one
and the proper gt4 spoiler and the difference in speed?
if i get the proper gt4 sopiler what difference should i feel in terms of topspeed, handling etc, i mean ones that i notice. but generally top speed wise, how much should i expect, lets say end of puke, 242ks, how much would that reduce?

The WRC spoiler is reputed to knock 20kph off the top speed. I dont think that even the WRC teams wind tunnel tested it so its hard to predict how much downforce it generates. I would surmise that its pretty minimal.

is that alot?
i mean i dont know
you think its better to hvae massive top speed around circuit or extra 50kg downforce, i mean thats like someone sitting at the back seat right?:D

Yeah thanks for that statement with no resources to back up what you are saying so we are left wondering why its not! :)

Does adding another person to the car change the aerodynamics of the car the same as a spoiler??

Stop being an asshat ollieboy, although i know your damn good at it.

yes i know about downforce, i was semi sarcastic as you hopefully would have been able to tell but ok i guess not
but for my car and the average track day car, how much does that improve cornering?

just curious if its worth the trade off
or is it more for windy roads and tracks?
see im a huge fan of formula one
and i know that they reduce spoiler size and change angles for certain tracks

example, for indy usa they have the least amount of spoilers to increase top speed
but for a track lets say MONACO, its slow and windy and the spoiler is increased because they are slower so they need more downforce as slower speeds... while ast fast speeds, the multiplication of downforce is exponentially (*almost) with speed.

so how does it apply here, i mean for puke for example, its a fast track, if i lose 20 on the straight lets say, would i make that up in the corners by going a lil faster or not?

Downforce is measured in Neutons. Without velocity and air density kg is useless.
It also sounds like an estimate as its a very round number. Not something impreically tested. However that's conjecture.
