i was thinking it might be an idea if in one section we had some threads stickied for specific cars.

That way alot of discussion about the same/similar vehicle would remain in one post.

For example there was a post titled celica supra owners and then that branched off a few other posts about bushings etc.

Where as if there was one thread titled Supra owners then supra owners could discuss things in there, hopefully reducing the amount of posts that other people read without being relavent to them.

Just a thought anyway, any comments?

for example

Corolla owners(19** to 2008) just to clarify things.
Starlet owners (kp60, ep71 etc)

toymods have that

the problem with it is info gets buried in a 500 page thread......
meaning to find info you need to go through all the pages......

yeah thats where i got the idea from

that is true about the 500page posts, but easier than 500pages of posts.

perhaps threads something similar to the toymods ones, but only containing one post with links to threads relevant to that particular vehicle?

obviously there would be a degree of maintenance involved in that but the effort required would be far less than looking through 500 pages. i tried to look through the z10/20 thread on toymods and it's almost impossible to get through even a small amount of it, let alone find specific information.

it could be a good idea, but there would be so many differences between the same/similar cars that it could get messy. no info from kp60 would relate to ep71 etc..

I could be reading this wrong tho

Or how about a section for dyno prinouts, of various engines?

Or a sticky in the thread section perhaps, where people could post their dyno results, with a list of relevant mods etc?

People could get an idea of what basic mods will do for their engines, what combos work, what combos dont, etc. A lot of people seem to think that 'random mod A' will fetch them 5hp, and 'random mod B' will fetch them another 5, etc.

All of these suggestions are going to make for one very complicated, hard to understand forum. I'm not saying they're bad, but having random info all over the show will make the forum fairly disjointed, will it not? And besides, not everyone has an EP or an ST185, so having forums for specific models is a little pointless if there are only 2 people interested in reading them..

My thoughts anyway.

ideas are all good.

i dont think its forums or areas being suggested.
just a single thread.

as in there will be a thread for celica owners, a thread for levin/trueno owners etc.

not a bad idea, i just think it wont quite work as the original poster suggested.

if it went ahead, i think itd work better as a general thread. if something important comes up, then it can be copy/pasted into a seperate thread in the FAQ section.

How about enforcing people putting enough description in the title, thus searchs would be more efficent..

instead of 'does any one know what bushes to use?' making people put 'question: bushes for a ae101 SS arm'

or keywords relating to the post for the search engine to use?

I find it a PITA to find things via search as you need to use very broad terms and you need to search the text instead of the titles.

My 2 cents =)

I once toyed with the idea of sections for particular chassis series...

Like

Corona/Celica/Caldina

MR2

Corolla

Starlet

Which would then give you obvious groupings..

My idea was forums, not individual threads, tho...
