The SR dash cluster does fit straight in,use the dash loom out of the SR(ke35)if possible or change/add the wires around on the plug. There are 2 types of surrounds ,make sure you get the right 1 for your dash as they dont interchange.

yep i did this in my 36 and when i flicked it off still hadn't found the right surround for it

what i did was took out the dash from my 36 (30 will be the same most likely) and stick a piece of paper to each pin where it went by following the circuit on the back of the 36 dash

then popped it out of the plug with a girls bobby pin and rearranged by following them on the 35 dash circuit board lol

it was time consuming and annoying at times (some of my first goes didn't work properly) but i got it in the end

with the rev counter i just ran a wire from the coil and hooked it in to a screw on the back of the 35 dash and it went

what i did in my old ke30 is bought a 2" tacho and took out the clock as they fit into that space there, doesn't look as good as a ke35 dash in your car but it's not as tacky as some 6" oversized thing

sweet as then
what are the diff surrounds? the black and the browm one? like the 2 diff kinds of ke30 interiors? (black being kind of wrap around)

also how much would one cost including surround (brown assuming thats the diff) just as an idea

i paid .. actually i can't remember. $20 or something for the gauges and it came with a crusty ass painted surround that didn't even fit my dash (it was the two piece type, i need the one piece) they're not as easy to find as you think.

there are one-piece types and two-piece types. the one piece goes all the way from the drivers air vent to the glovebox whereas the two piece goes from the drivers vent, stops after the clock, then there is a 2nd piece where the headunit etc goes

unfortunately they don't fit into the other type (as you said one of them is curved, can't remember what one though, think the one piece)
