AE82 NZ NEW COROLLA GT's Help

Mate of mine looking at buying a AE82 5door liftback NZ new GT, bluetop 4age, leather etc.... just wondering how many of these where produced??? would it have been a limited run?

What would be some main things to look out for on these cars, rust areas etc?

yes limited numbers...
the number is in dispute though theres HEAPS around, we have about 10 as customers! and had 3-4 in nelson.

As always, rust in the hatch / hatch hinges. Check out the leather on the seats too as its almost always stuffed (old and cracked).

price depends alot on the condition, someone had a 3 dr one that was pretty tidy on trademe for ages, he wanted stupid amounts of money but there just isint that much interest in them so dont pay too much more than you would for a jap import imo.

I'd check for rust around the tail gate, bottom of doors and windscreen. Also check for signs of water gettin inside as the rubber window seals will be getting tired by now. Same applies to sunroofs.

Mine never idled properly when the engine was warm. I suspect the dizzy was on its last legs.

I used to own a beige 1...good cars.
