If you're insured with State.

A heads up here, for your information (sorry if this has been posted before).

State have changed something rather major in their computer systems.

We have just recieved our renewals, for home+contents and our 3 cars.

All policies have been MAJORLY ballsed up, erros not limited to:

Car models incorrect - turbo cars now listed as non
Owners missing
Named drivers missing
Driver's License periods wrong
Policy holder's names and ages wrong
Alarms missing
Other details completely incorrect

etc etc.

Have now spent close to 3 hours on the phone with them trying to get this sorted out. They are very apologetic etc and nice to deal with, but that doesn't help if you made a claim and the details are wrong.

From what I've worked out, they have used an automated conversion of details from old system to the new.

If your'e with state, I would strongly recommend asking for a new copy of your policy ASAP.

Yeap they've changed all their computer systems apparently. I've been with them for just over five years and in that time I've had seven cars insured with them. I currently had two cars insured with them, plus contents insurance and when I went to insure a third car concurrently with them, the premium was going to be nearly TWICE as much as what I am paying for the other two cars, one of which is TURBO and the other one is identical make/model/spec to the third one I tried to insure.

I went to go see them in person to sort this out as I thought perhaps the lady on the phone f*cked something up like not take my no claims bonus into account, but as it turns out this wasn't the case. All the lady at the counter could say was "well it's now agreed value and not market value". I told her that change in the policy was not worth the extra $500+ I would have to pay annually for three cars for the same policy I've had with them for years!

Needless to say I've moved all my insurance elsewhere, where I am getting a much better deal! I thought loyalty would have paid off being with them for a long time etc, but clearly it didn't!

Oh yay, I've got three cars and a bike insured with state. This should be fun.

Thanks for the heads up, I will actually read the paperwork when it comes around for renewal this time.

Over the last 2 years, IAG - who own State, NZI & National Autoclub to name but a few, have been moving towards centralising their sales applications. This means they've been merging all their client data into one main system that was originally developed to deal with Australian clients only.

What you're now experiencing if you're a State customer is the inability of their new system to deal with New Zealand based policy renewals. Which is why potentially you're going to get some inaccuracies when you recieve your renewals.

My gf has just started working for iag (state nzi etc) and said her trainer has told them that like distrb said its a conversion error. Apparently it has caused many headaches not only with clients but employees as well as some policies have been going missing altogether but they are slowly working through the backlog, but yeah prob best bet is to get out of the queue and just call them to fix anything that could be wrong.

Yeah all mine was stuffed up too. But the guy who i was dealing with was like well your the only one who's complained.

Also i see they've put up my excess too, but seperating it out.

Im about to find a broker in dunedin to get me a better deal.

I hope no one has had an accident in the mean time & had cover refused, would make a great story for the papers & the insurance ombudsman. In fact perhaps i should let the ombudsman know anyway, perhaps they might give state a slap over the knuckles or make them contact all their customers to let them know they've made errors

Oh yeah and they asked if it was a 5 door fxgt? WTF 8O Where can i get one of these rare 5 door Fxgt's? they must be really valuable

It gets better... they send me out a new copy of the policy, and it still lists it as supercharged. Then the g/f's EE90 policy comes in, and that's now a "FX G 1295cc supercharged"

Guess what, that's the ONLY model of 1987 Corolla the woman on the phone can find in the database ... a model that doesn't exist.

Andrew you should have left them the uber virus from hell on their computer system, because what's happening there currently is seriously stuffed up.
