Better be a 4WD with that little weight and that much torque
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Yea, I'm placing money on that too, but I'm just in denial :(

in a few years, maybe 5, maybe 10. toyota cars will all be autos or semi autos.

seeing as its using the RX engine and from the interior shots id say its FWD.
but so what?

Would they do that?
i'm sure there's still a lot of people that would want to drive a real gearbox still, plus economically speaking it's cheaper to produce a manual box rather then a dirty old auto....

manuals are incompatable with hybrid systems

plus if you look at sales of manuals vs autos....

Yeah the ST246 caldina's are auto only

And it is FWD accoring to the magizine that I first saw it in

I'm betting on a hugely intrusive traction control system

Some of toyotas new autos sound pretty good like the one on their lexsuses.

The torque converter will lock when its out of first gear and well its pretty much like a sequential box in a racecar.. but no quite.

Why wouldn't they? most cars these days come in auto... maybe with a manual option. The new autos are bloody good, and getting better.

I would be willing to bet that it's not cheaper once you take the R&D for the manual GB out of it.

Take a drive in a new Smart four4(or 44, or 4four, or whatever it is called), it's an auto with a manual gear stick... best of both worlds, no clutch peddle so the mrs can drive it just fine, foot flat and change gears at will...

Although it's not quick by any means... but it's also not made for that market.

Oh yeah... and I like it.

Yeah but when you go through the AA magazines and things like that the auto's are around 2-3g's more in a new car... meaning that it must be more expensive, and most new "smart" autos have computers and things attached to them. I would personally never own an auto unless I lost my left leg or something or they had a setup something like the F1, rally, indy cars where it changes gears only up and down when you tell it to and straight away. i've driven a few tiptronics, mitsi and toyota and think that they are slow and cumbersom.....

I mean that'll be the day that you go to bathhurst and watch the V8 supercars and they have auto's or watching the d1 where someone sticks a slush box in an AE86 and goes mad

Watch the F1 guys hands next time they show one going down the straights... quite a few of them have auto up-shift, they control only the down shift, it means that that they have one less thing to concentrate on, and the computer can shift gears at the most suitable RPM

Bloody slushmatics! I guess at the end of the day its about supply and demand. More car buyers prefer autos so more autos are going to be produced. I know my girlfriend wouldn't touch a manual unless I made her drive my car
