Postby Ae92typeX » Sun Sep 30, 2007 10:06 pm

Im sure ther was a post on this years ago, but I cant find.
Anyone reccomend a perspex/plexiglas/acrylic glass supplier in auckland with reasonable prices?
Either looking for some plain clear or slightly tinted uv stuff, probably afew square meters.

Try Engineering Plastics or Ludowici Ceelon they can probably help. Else have a look in the yellow pages for a glass place that does boats as most boat windows are perspex.

afaik regular perspex is a no no for cars, i believe you need polycarbonate or something. regular perspex shatters into millions of really sharp shards when you smash it, and that could potentially waste you real bad, to put it bluntly :P

yeah, I hadnt looked into legalities re cars as thats not something for right now. Will be sweet for the boat as long as itsnot crashed into a wall...and then there will be other worries lol.

problem with regular polycarb is that it crazes with uv light, and you cant apply heat to bend it as it will go milky. 8O
