Scale Models = Fun!

So i got given an early Xmas present this year, a Toyota Trueno 1/24 Model.
I've attempted making a 911 GT3 model in the past but that turned out crap.
And I'm a really useless model maker.

However, i got the wheels of the 911, cause the stock ones look...inadequate.


And i fitted them to my silver coloured model.
The fit was pretty good, the rear tyres were a bit large, but i hacked them up with a knife in no time.



(sorry about the crappy phone pics, the paint and the wheels look much better IRL)

Just waiting for some pieces to dry and then ill finish the model of tomorrow.
First time i spray painted something as well, and the finish was surprisingly smooth and shiny (relatively) with no runs

Good fun doing this, i was thinking of buying another model...but holy crap they cost like $40-$50 each!

That's sweet, I really wish I had the patience to complete plastic kits, but mine inevitably end up looking so rubbish. Have you ever looked at any of the scale model forums? There's some HARDCORE modellers around, like, full on 2 pak paint jobs with clearcoat, all properly cut back and wet sanded etc etc, and that's on 1:24 scale stuff too!!!

I collect diecasts though, generally 60's - early 90's coupes, road and racecars. Approaching 250 cars now.

Just bought 2 1:24 scale diecast AE86 Levin's in from Japan, 1 kouki and 1 zenki, with watanabes and longchamps wheels on them respectively.

looks good, im into models aswell, i did an s13 200sx years ago, painted it the same colour as my one was, but now im working on an ae86 trueno(two tone) and a dx sedan, just got myself an airbrush kit and compressor so she will be done soon!!!!

I think you can get them from Model Crafts & Hobbies.
I think my cousin got me one from there, in Wellington.

Local model shop here has a 4dr TE71 in stock if you're keen. $35 from memory, Fujimi or Aoshima I can't remember which

Yeah is a 4 door. I only bought it as its the closest I've found to a KE70. Aoshima brand I think. Only 2 door one I've seen is the liftback type like NA Drifter use to drift in.

Wouldn't this be the ideal situation to learn how to do panel repair on a really small scale?

and you could give it a roof chop while you're at it :lol:
