Corolla question

Postby thornz » Thu Jan 24, 2008 6:59 pm

I am wondering if anyone can help me. When the newer shape corolla was introduced, (early 2000's model i think) was there a version released with the 1.8L vvt-i motor from the celica with a six speed manual? For some reason I thought there was, but have had a look round on trade me and haven't stumbled across one. Can anyone confirm this, or am I just delusional?

I think all the 6 speeds are VVTL-i, found in the runx etc, look up 2zz-ge.

Cheers, just found what I was looking for. Is there any difference between the imports and a NZ new one?

There's one call ALLEX too I think
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

The NZ GT's and the Aussie Sportivo's were South African made.
The most obvious difference between these and Jap RUNX or Allex models is that exhaust exits on the opposite side.

Apart from that we have found all other parts interchangeable and any other differences are likely to be cosmetic, trim etc ...

as far as I know it was an option at purchase, except aussie where all the "corolla sportivo" models have them.

I have one(ex-Jap RunX, not leather)... want to buy it?

Not looking to buy one just yet, just looking at options for a hot hatch towards the end of the year.

well they certainly are a hot hatch.

mid 15 quarter from factory, and yet able to get 500/730kms off their approx 45L tank round town/trip, so bloody good on gas too once you stop putting your foot down.

the exhaust note is intoxicating for a 4 cylinder, one of the only ones I like.

that is pretty impressive. Currently looking at the other usual suspects such as Gti golfs, peugeot gti's. But for the money, I think the Corollas are looking like the best bang for buck, and the added practicality of 4 doors is a bonus as well.
