and so the debate continues - back in market ! :(

Postby jdm 102 » Thu Feb 07, 2008 10:03 pm

G'day from sunny brisbane (yet again) -

I'm in the market again and having seen how it helped to ask here last time (because I based my decision on that and was fairly happy) , the debate last time was between a Galant Vr-4 vs Aristo. Lucky that I posted here and avoided myself that hassle..

I loved owning the Aristo, but with uni coming up and my finances hitting the shit (as I'm saving up for a house) , sold the Aristo - :( looking at a 4 cylinder this time around .. the choices are

1. Honda Civic with B16A2 engine conversion (already done)
2. Ae101 Levin with 20v silvertop
3. 98' Subaru Liberty (or legacy if thats what they call it there) with sohc 2.5l

want 4 door (ideally) - Na (but have some poke atleast :P ) and just something reliable.

Cheers for helping out :D

So what do you want from the car?

Something quick/sporty (which would be 1 or 2) but kinda rules out number 3?

definately ae101.
not the fastest. but parts are cheap, easy to work on, use bugger all gas and very reliable.also not too bad interior. my pick for a daily driver for the wife when her civic expires.

keep away from subaru if you want reliability...

you will probably get a bias opinion to the levin being a toyota site

but ill say it again.. keep away from scoobuckit... the NAs dont have a huge amount of power in my experiance too

yeah I was thinking that too (bout subi esp with awd , power loss much?)

I've owned 7afe, 20v (ae101), gze (ae101) and the Aristo -

the 20v just need to rev it hard and I cbf to be honest lol -

the gze's that are around the damn dealership wants like 13,000$ (same price I sold my Aristo for) , for the 91 AE101 .. I'm just like yeah... right...

Could've bought the JZX100, but beats the purpose really (of being less on fuel) , thought R34 sedan (non turbo) but heard its an absolute nugget too.

hmm -

thought the twin turbo ones did?

not that I'd get one, if I have to get twin turbos, I'll get myself an Aristo again, god that was so much fun - putting noobs in their place with this big silver barge -

put out 187.8kw @ wheels with just an exhaust and stock boost.

I could get another Aristo but nah , not at this point in life. Maybe once uni is done, will get it again.

i like toyotas, but if i had a choice between an AE101 levin and a civic with a B16A in it, i'd take the civic any day.

SSS pulsar, you are talking about an N14? they go pretty well, but they are ugly as sin imho.
