The mintest st205 EVER... but is it worth 16k?

Postby dnalunchie » Thu Apr 30, 2009 8:05 pm

Hey guys as you know ive been looking around for a while for a new car since I sold the type R... (was a great car too btw) anyway.... I have spotted an st205 in dark gunmetal grey with the same colour te 37's. The car was imported 3 years ago by an old mechanic that owns his own shop down in dunedin. I went in to ask him if he would sell it and he said the lowest he would go is 16k.... now i KNOW thats ALOT but it is absolutly imaculate and it is late model and unfucked with. 110kms

Any thoughts guys? I have no car and i REALLY need/want one!

If you buy it make sure you keep it for a long time because you will not get anything near 16k for it when it comes time to sell it.
16k is getting awfully close to an RX8 etc

He clearly doesn't care if he sells it or not. I'd flag it for that money TBH.

16k as said above can get a much newer/nicer car that if you decide (again ;)) to sell, you can actually recover more money back.

Thats $2000 more than the most expensive one on trademe, thats through a dealer with less kms (JUST).

i would only buy it if you were a collector
ie were going to keep it for a very long time/for ever

really doesnt sound like what you need, lets be honest, will you keep it as immaculate?

He has a Honda, so I won't doubt him about the keeping it clean and shiney.

16k is too much money for a ST205, wouldn't do it unless it's an absolute must have thing and you're gonna keep it for 10 years plus, parked inside a garage kind of thing.

16k is S15 Spec R money
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

Over almost 10 years I've spent over $40k on my GT-Four. Would I spend $16k on one in today's climate. No $&#$% way. 8O

Will your garage it and rarely drive it? If so it would be worth spending a little less and get one of the NZ new cars if you intend to "collect" it. I'd sell you mine for $16k

As it is an import realistically if you drive it daily and run the mileage up (with stone chips and scrapes that goes with that) then it will be worth $8000 in a years time, no matter how mint it is now.

$16000 buys you a hell of a lot of car at the moment. BMW M5 anyone?
