Tollroad Help!! attn police/govt people

Postby Mike- » Sat Jul 25, 2009 1:07 pm

I just got a toll notice about a car i sold over a year ago and i know its not in my name as i rang up a few months ago and got them to list all the cars in my name.

it is only $4 but the lady on the phone was a real bitch about it so i really dont want to pay,

can someone give me the name of the person owning this car now

ZL2892

thanks

www.ltsa.govt.nz will be a good start, give them a ring, explain the situation, make sure you aren't on the rego etc.

If its not registered to you then just forget about it / do your own chasing up  I doubt anyone in the police/govt departments are going to be able to help you anymore than what you can do to help yourself.

Thing is, if you are not the registered owner (this is where LTSA comes in) then the toll people have the wrong information. Thats not YOUR problem. So check first the rego with LTSA (I did this recently after a car sale) THEN if all is good, contact the toll people and let them know 'politely' that they have the wrong information and that you will not be paying anything as its not your car.

EDIT:

Something else thats interesting is that this car has no WOF or REGO, both expired like 2 years ago :?

no reg no wof,

are you sure it was changed from your name?

After getting stung with a back rego bill for a car I sold ages ago,

when I sell a car now I tell them that if they dont change it into their own name, when i get a reminder in the mail that the rego is due or Hold is about to expire, I will cancel the rego.

I cant see how if it's in someone else's name they got your details??

Should have just said, even easier for them to just wipe it.

Or maybe they can just pay out of their pocket, even quicker

I have the same problem about every 3 months or so for a plate that was once on my vehicle prior to me buying it, i've got it now so that when i ring them up they go oh right thats flagged we've got it sorted don't worry about it - then they say don't forget to ring next time as otherwise it'l automatically process through to you and then end up as a huge bill after non payment interest and fines.
Took me 5 phone calls to get through to someone who could see the sense in what i was saying, the 1st 4 just told me it would be easier to pay then worry about it.
Just outa interest sake if anyone see's a hnda civic with the place N0LZ on it can they hit them over the head for me.
Oh and the vehicle that i brought that previously had that plate on it is a Prado so bit of a difference from the civic it's on now. Unfortunately i've been told that since the plate isn't currently registered to a car and the lst car it was on is mine then they can't do anything about it untill it's registered on another car.
Ask them to have a look at the photo and confirm that the plate is on the same car (make model) as it's supposed to be on, and they can't do fines either - just the toll rad stuff
