Need to find a muffler please

Postby thegreatestben » Wed Sep 30, 2009 8:21 pm

I want to quieten the 7agte down a bit, I measured it at idle and it's currently sitting at 111db hehe.

my exhaust is 3" and currently looks like this:

I was thinking about doing something like this to replace both.

Or alternate ideas are welcomed.
I had a look through repco's catalogues and couldn't find anything really.
Only some 3" sport mufflers which are about the same size as the current reso's but muffler looking(round barrels)

Replacing the whole system in mine tomorrow as its all kinds of f**ked.. cracked header I think + cat is stuffed and the baffles have blow themselves to pieces in the muffler .. sounds like a massey ferguson from the 1950's
I'm going for the anti-bling :P
One thing I have been noticing though, i can make it backfire now (blipping on downchange usually)
Does that mean its running to rich? Oxy sensor replacement good to do while getting the exhaust done? (225 on the clock)
/ sorry for the hijack

You could also get a flowmaster with the inlet/outlet at the same end which would mean the outlet would still be in the stock position i.e. sleeper.....
See ya

Just get an M & H one from STA Parts in Auckland. The Mrs got one for her car for ~$90 shipped to Palmy and I put it on. Went from horribly loud 2.5" straight pipe to almost stock noise levels with just the one in line muffler. Hasn't affected performance either as far as I can tell.

Not really. Just the inlet and outlet at the same end - not in and out at both ends. Don't need to loop it together then and the muffler would probably be cheaper. Put a hanger on the left side and hang it from the chassis rail - there are a couple of threaded holes there.
See ya
