Tire time - Michelin's or Goodyear or something else?

Need new tires for the Clio, the fronts are scrubbed bad, got wof at end of month.

Currently running Michelin Pilot Preceda's 195/50R15 they seem pretty good but are $250/each to replace.

Liked the Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's on the MR2, the only tire that tamed it in the wet. They are around $200/each.

Anything new that I should look at? Haven't bought good tires in about 4 years LOL

I had Direzza DZ101 on my old rims, seemed pretty good, handled quite well in the wet, ~$700 for 4x 15" if I can remember


once my rims are powdercoated, will also need new tyres on mine

Hi Al!!!!

I had the Bridgestone RE001 on my ITR (same tyre recommended by Sergei). Very impressed, leagues ahead of the DZ101 I had on the 2nd set of wheels for it, on the few track excursions I did on them I found them to be a very progressive tyre, they let go gradually when they did and feedback through the wheel was great.

Never melted them as such, and they worked fantastically in wet conditions.

Downside was they wear a bit quicker than some (DZ101's in particular) but the price was also very reasonable.

Thought my input might be relevant since I had them on a lightweight FWD as well, very similar application to what you have.

Advantage with the asymmetric design is you can rotate them easily too.

in the past week I have started threads on being too full from pasta. having my razor explode and somthing else entirely useless, I feel i have fufilled my OT quota

I think such posts are completely relevant as not only do tyre technologies change over time (how often does the average person buy tires - once a year if they're unlucky?), but cars are different and have different sized wheels, and are driven differently.

If it was the same question about 15" wheels on a trueno every day, I could understand..

and that was rather specific, as in i put the exact thread title into the search bar - also why i only search breifly on here and only if i know i've seen the information in a thread somewhere.

BTW i like the michelins - although they tend to get quite squirmy once they get track warm. Otherwise they are brilliant tires imho. Been a while since i brought any so can't coment on what price they are now

Try "tyre and brand" without the " 6 threads on the first page were tyre recommendations / comparisons

Not too specific search wise, but kind of logical for the type of info one might be after

Of the 54 matches it found a thread I started in 2004 was the last thread

Probably just going to buy some more Michelin's did some searching and the only bad thing about them is the price.
