NZ new 99 corolla hatch how much?

Postby mjrstar » Mon Jan 04, 2010 7:17 pm

My wife has decided she want's an auto so sadly the trusty corolla has to go

I'm trying to judge what it's worth...

So I had a looksie on trademe and there is pleny of import corollas lurking about but not much in the NZ new side of things.

specs are:

NZ new 99 corolla 5 door hatch,
4afe 1.6 manual.
silver
Air Con
225,000k's
15'' TSW mags with tyres less than 1 month old. directional 195's
jvc cd player.
It has some front seats out of a higher spec model which are much more comfortable.

Sweet economical run-about pretty tidy other than a small amount of paint fading on the l/h side of the 'c' pillar.

At the moment i'm trying to decide wether i can be bothered selling it private or trading it.

I may transfer this to the for sale section if the replacement car is found soon.
current cars:
Evo 4 230Kw atw
1971 mini.
79 bugeye 245kw atw.
Evo powered mx5 under construction

get a new wife? :P

Depending on condition, maybe as much as 5-6k
Nz new corollas have a tax above and beyond the usual corolla tax

it's an 11 year old car with over 200,000kms on the clock. If it is otherwise very tidy apart from the paint fading then you'd probably fetch anywhere between $3500-4500 privately. Most dealers will either try offer you very little citing the higher kms as a killer of the value as they would probably have difficulty shifting it on, or they will try offer you a good value so you feel obliged to buy with them, and they'll most likely make up the extra cost they paid for the trade in in their higher profit margins.

Personally I think you'd be better off selling it privately.

yeah thinking the private sale might be the option if it sells without too many hassles.
I think we'd be happy with around $4400, but we are not back in the country until the 13th.

Strx7, feel free to drop me A PM if you are keen to have a look, I think she'll ba taking it to hamilton 13th-15th to see her sister so that may work out for someone..

No Pics at the mo, but a silver 1.6 version of this:
