Couriering Tires..

Postby UZZ30 » Thu Jan 07, 2010 2:03 pm

Hey guys

I have two tires Im wanting to send from Auckland to Christchurch.

Any recommendation on what company is best to ship with, as all the main ones I've tried are quoting anywhere from $150-400 to send two 285/40R17 tires.. pretty extreme.

Any help would be good!

Cheers
Mike.

Do it depot to depot if you aren't already - works out cheaper than getting it to the door.

Does it have to be courier?

You could try NZPost? Not sure on exact size limits, worth a shot. Their website will tell you the cost. You'd have to send them individually.

Or walk into Mag and Turbo with a box of beers and see what they can do  I've recieved mags from up north before via mag and turbo, seller organised it though so not sure how he did it.

for large items, I use mainstream logisitics as they do pick up and delivery door to door. I do have an account though, so best to give them a bell and see if they will do a cash paying job and get a quote.

I Bought 2X Rally Tyres from a guy in tauranga and the courier cost was $50 to Wellington and dropped off at my door.

I don't know what the company was though sorry, but at least that should give you an idea that they are trying to shaft you

thing is he is crossing the straight. Which immediately adds a lot to the cost.
Have you seen rrp prices for overnight interisland tickets? 8O and they only do 0.025 cube. ie a shoe box!
I had to courier a 24kg piece of steel the other day, cost was $134! 5 tickets. Whats the weight and cube of 2 17" tyres?

Freight company will be the way to go.
