Going for a WOF.

So. It's almost the time for me to go for a WOF for the MR2 (Yes I know it's only been 3 years)


I'm thinking of driving her down, but since I have no WOF and REGO at all (expired 3 years ago), if I get stopped I'll have no excuse but get slapped with a $400 fine.

Is "I'm on my way to the WOF shop" a legit excuse?

Or do I have to tow my car there? Seems silly for a 2km trip "down the road".

I always put my projects on exemption class A when mine have been ready for wof test, its cheaper that normal rego, and from what my interpretation is, it allows a car to be driven on the road for the purpose of a WOF check / repairs for the WOF etc.

Just one option

Though 2km.. almost not worth it.... just have to watch out for the Murphy guy as hes damn law

You are allowed to drive it down to your mechanics or WOF place, providing the car is safe to drive on the road. So as long as theres nothing drastically obvious thats a major safefy concern you wont have any issues.

This is correct.

From the LTSA website:

It's illegal to drive a vehicle…

* If it doesn't meet WoF requirements.
* If it doesn't display a valid WoF label.

You can drive your vehicle on the road under these circumstances only when taking it somewhere for repair or to get a new WoF – and it's safe to do so.

My rego's been on hold, I'm gonna give them a call and book a time just to be sure, then drive it down for a WOF.

Gonna put a silencer on that muffler to avoid unnecessary attention.

Just waiting for 1 more part from Mark (RH axle carrier bearing studs and nut, goddamn 6 weeks ex Japan BS) and then I'm off to get humiliated.
