Painting HID headlights

Postby Emperor » Wed Oct 13, 2010 10:47 pm

I want to pull apart the Stagea's headlights and spray the chrome parts black.
Just want a heads up on which paint I should use, dealing with high temp lighting.
Will normal black spray paint be ok, or am I better off doing it in a proper 2K car paint?

Cheers

slightly OT: in terms of heat HID lights produce less of it than Halogen per watt, combined with lower power consumption you get a lot colder bulbs compared to equivalent of halogen.

The chrome part?

You mean the reflector?

Won't that stop the lights from working?

No, my headlights have two chrome peices. 1 being the outer housing of the headlight, and then you have the actual headlight part, with the chrome reflection casing.
I won't be painting the reflective part.

^ Agreed. you can use High temp. paint if you really want to, but I doubt there will be much difference. Painted the Supra headlights with normal paint and they came out fine (and still are).
