suprafest 2011

Postby deaf_rattle » Wed Nov 17, 2010 2:58 pm

Hi guys

Just throwing it out there...
Looking at running suprafest 2011.

There is a fairly large skid pad at hampton downs that we might look at h iring for some autocross action (more supra friendly).

Will probably run a fairly similar format to previous suprafests, but i have something else i want to throw into the mix.

thinking maybe anzac weekend, although this also falls on easter monday that year.

Will post more details as plans get sorted.

Normally I'd say yes, but ANZAC day itself I won't be attending as I have duties to attend to on that day.

Will keep an eye on things, may make an appearance but as I said, I already have a prior obligation :)

yeah, possibly we need to cram everything into 2 days rather than 3, to free up remembering those who fought the good fights.

Yes. Win. Supraforums has too many computer dwellers! We need to get this sorted out, it's been way too long... as long as I have another Supra by then

edit: I appreciate your efforts to make this happen mate, but weren't there a bunch of people who were quite hesitant to do it again under the same format as the last one? Do you mind going over the format of this event? (as I was just basing this off what others have been saying heh).

I assume you haven't been on Supraforums in quite a while dude, we have been organizing a get together for a while now that will take place over a few days around March next year with most of the forum boys (involving getting some accommodation at either Hampton Downs or Taupo) - so even though 2 events in one year would great, it probably isn't too realistic eh? How about you come along to the 'Supra get away' that is going on next year and then in 2012 we organize the Suprafest?

Dyno
Possibly drags
Cruise
Autocross

There are a couple of people who want a track based event, but there arent enough people prepared to put their money where their mouth is. But if they want a kick in the teeth i can arrange that.

We will change it up abit, but at the end of the day, its a fun weekend for like minded people to get out amongst it and try to have their supras going.

There are enough track days already and there is nothing stopping anyone organising a supra take over.

the plan is to try and get suprafest to being an annual event, but may look at biannual.

Eventually id like to take it down the line to possibly wellington or similar to get more south island guys involved. But untill south island people make the effort....

We had one person turn up from queenstown last time and one from japan.

commitment at its finest.

Lol @ Postfach - Dude, I'm 'always' keen... It's others that aren't at times.

For example; Some people say they don't have the funds to do anything and then I see them driving around in the weekend and eating out at a restaurant? lol. I understand that people have a life and have to get around in a car to do things... but to procrastinate for 2-3 years saying they can't do something or meet up due to lack of funds (and yet they manage to go out socializing and buying car parts within this time? That isn't right).

edit: ...but again, I'm always 'down like Charlie Brown', so if you do go through with it, us 'keen beans' will do what we can to get peoples A's into G ;)

Hampton downs skid pad is penciled in for queens birthday weekend.
Looking at a cost of $35-$40 per car for the autocross and hoping to have a mixture of prizes (inc cash)

Possibly not just for the fastest times either.

the skid pad is much larger than the meremere one used previously, so courses will be more supra friendly.
