Where to get new TA22 panels

Postby hsmidy » Sat Sep 03, 2011 4:11 pm

Hey guys

so ive been searching the net for abit and cant seem to find anyone that makes repro TA22 panels.

does anyone know where i can find these if anyone makes them.

I know i could just take the car to a panel beater but i would rather replace the panels myself.

if this belongs in a different section feel free to move it.

Fibreglass is the only option unless you can convince Toyota to remanufacture them. Leftover stock may be somewhere but it usually gets snapped up and stored.

this place does fibreglass

I remember seeing a ad for repro steel TA22 panels in a old Fast Fours, was a outfit in Aussie. Will have a hunt for it

Bugger.

I know there are some lower sills that come up on ebay now and then but im after the front scuttle panel and the panel that sits below the rear window and the boot.

unfortunetly fiberglass wont be a go.

might have to do the dreaded and pay someone to make them up.

I'm no pro when it comes to panel forming

If you dread it that much, buy some sheet and some hammers and give it a go :)

True that, gotta start somewhere though. Unless it's completely gone it should be doable. Find a similar donor panel perhaps and modify to fit. Eventually. Not saying it would be easy by any means, but if you can't get a replacement part...

That said, chuck up a WTB add on oldschool.co.nz perhaps, a few people on there will have em and may have spares.
