2JZ Cressida

Postby buriedalive » Tue Sep 20, 2011 10:55 am

I remember seeing a black 2JZ MX73 Cressida for sale on TM some weeks ago, anyone familiar with it? It looked pretty tidy; 5 stud conversion etc

Just curious about its build etc

If its the one im thinking of its owned by a guy in Palmy, he bought the engine out of an Aristo while working at a local Toyota wrecker, and bolted on a rather large single, then proceeded to break many axles!

Not 100% sure of exactly what else he has done, but thats a very basic run down

Yeah that sounds like the one. Do you know if he sold it on or not?

Think this is it from memory : http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/toyota/auction-376143868.htm

Definitely secure! Cool car indeed, owes him shedloads. Just needs a different rear end to handle the power

Sounds like some setup/abuse issues if smashing axles, a few high powered F series IRS cars in Oz coping quite well with significant 2JZ power with no rear end problems yet.

if its the one i think it is the issue with the axles is an alignment problem. the car being too low it puts the cv joints are on a bad angle and more prone to breaking. Add a few extra hp and you can break the buggers at will

correct. even with that sort of power. F series rear end is only just getting out of bed in the morning.

the car is to low that why it breaks axles. has a stock vvti 2jzgte & r154 in it with a large single turbo and ortronce ecu runing it. 5 stud converstion was done with crown hubs and nissan 4pot/2pot & adjustable s13 sturts in the front.
i think it made around 370kw on 18 psi and stock injectors. has jzx80 sub frame jzx 100 drive shatf (i think) every thing was made to be a bolt in replacement haedly anything is custom made $&#$% cool car and had alot of money and time spent on it

Autronic ECU ;) And I didn't realise he ever got as high as 370kw or 18psi. Runs a Holset HX50 series hybrid turbo on it, a bit of lag but has the potential for a lot more power than its currently making. Quite a cool looking car, the owner put a lot of time into putting it together.
