Entry certifiers
All motor vehicles entering New Zealand must pass an entry certification inspection before they can be registered for use on New Zealand roads. To arrange for this inspection you need to contact an approved entry certifier.
The organisations below carry out entry certification of imported used vehicles and 'parallel imports', ie new vehicles that are imported by persons other than the manufacturers' representatives:

True, but if we only did stuff to our cars on the basis that increased their value (or at least reduced their decline in price), there would be a whole bunch of project/difficult to find cars what wouldn't be around... and if you find a nice example, put x hours into it, what are the chances that you could get another one like it or better?rollaholic wrote:yeah that'd be the biggest reason not to do it i would have thought. we've complied cars that probably cost more to ship and comply than they would have cost to buy here in NZ, but were still worth 10k or whatever in aus

I doubt you will have any issues registering it. It meets the criteria for a special vehicle. I think it will be a pretty straight forward thing to bring it in.
Best thing is to contact the relevant department here now and give them the details and see what they say.
