Toy Speed Monthly Meet. Thoughts?

Postby KIPH8N » Tue Nov 22, 2011 8:53 pm

Like all the other car enthusiasts around New Zealand example NZ Honda why cant toy speed have monthly meet ups. Would be great to see all the toyota fans gathering together. What are your thoughts about this? Anyone keen?

Back in the days most areas met weekly! Some still do.

I would make it to some if my car would go and i was where my car was more than 1/3 of the time.

We do it with Minitrucking, here in Tga we dont have much but the Auckland meets can be huge. Thought there would be more interest in the Yota community for these meets

In palmy we meet weekly for a bit of a chat then hell pizza for dinner and to a cafe for desert. You can tell who are the keen ones due to the amount of palmerstonians there were at mega meet.

Didnt someone try to organise a meet earlier this year and no-one turned up so she rage quit?

I'd be keen for tsoobs idea, although a monthly trackday would be cool.
I have found on other forums that alot more people turn up to a track day than a meet.

There have been many that have organised track days but due to the lack of commitment from members most have given up. Some think its a 5 min job and piece of piss. Theres a lot of time AND money riding on them.

Sad but true, many people on this forum lack commitment. Having some sort of activity in conjunction would most likely interest more people.

Advertising meets to other toyota forums (club-k, altezzaclub, starlet central, etc.) and facebook also helps with numbers.

The best meets ive been to have either had something to do (bowling, mini-putt/driving range, beach mission), or have been hosted by a business (NST's TRD showroom opening being an example of a good toyota meet.)

+1 to tsoob, would drive up for that.

Yeah a weekday early evening bbq thing on the way home would work, I'd be keen. Especially if its tsoob as its on the way home from work.

I think if its monthly too you may find you get more interest, noone has time for once a week anymore :D

im planning trackdays.,.. but its a long way off, i need my car finished, and have at least 6 other customers that are building their cars at the same time.

Say the word and well make it happen on the bbq front.

if we get at least 8 confirm's well set a date.

If you live in Auckland you can use my driveway for your funny sideways racing which you guys like so much, however if you brake the fence you replace it, if you damaged your car its your own silly fault!

Its nearly 1.2km long and has a nice split half way,one goes to the house and the other to the workshop, plus there is 4 paddocks of flat land you can use.
