Anyone have an idea what these wheels are called?

Postby crispy'86 » Fri Jan 13, 2012 12:07 pm

Hey all have two types of wheels here and want to know what they are so i can match them up to hopefully make a couple of full sets of mags. Haven't been successful on trying to upload it on google imge search, or have had much luck finding info on the web,

And the other type: Has mantaray on it but nothing comes up on google:

Would like to get at least one more as these are 14 x 6.5" Not the bets looking but last if i can have a set it'd be something.

Top ones look similar to a couple of wheels, but not exactly the same so unsure of name. Are they one piece wheels or does the centre actually unbolt?

They've got torx heads on them, appear to look like they unbolt but till lately haven't had the right tols to attempt this.

Some wheels have bolts just for show is what I mean. I have wheels with bolts for show and wheels that actually hold two sections of wheel together. Not that it helps work out what they are, but 3 piece would tend to be made by a well known place. Whereas if they are knock offs of something else it could be harder to track down their origin / name.

Either way, if they are for the 86', the lack the required dish

You think they've got no dish??:

These were on my '86 when i bought it. So some dish is better than none.

Anyway back on topic, think the bolts are just for show really. Might be bridgestone or something?? Remember seeing Rob_GTZ had couple pics which looked similar a while ago. Just be nice to have something for skids on the racetrack that were all the same width.

Had a search through all the garages this afternoon and have come up with the answer::

This is the top pic in the post:

Image

Sounds like it could be Bridgestone ZONA speciale rims., anyone heard of these??They're 14 x 6 but haven't measured offset

Here is the bottom wheel

Image

Upon digging Manaray MX-4's, once again i doubt anyone would have heard of these. 25 offset, although not mind boggling in the offset department spare wheels are handy. Bought them ages ago real cheap just cause i could and always found it handy to have spare wheels.

Yeah the top set are Bridgestone, have seen them labelled Zona Speciale like yours or Bridgestone Stage 1. Had a few sets in 14x6 through to 14x7. They are genuine 3 piece, unbolt them & cut the sealant with a sharp knife & they will come apart.

Simon on Oldschool.co.nz has a set he has widened by unbolting and putting the centers back in between 2 back halves, look pretty cool

That's pretty cool, doubt i'd ever be able to get any matching rims for a set though
