Best Fuel Consumption you have had

Postby .:O4AGTZ:. » Tue May 01, 2012 12:03 pm

Well reason I figured this may be interesting is because during the weekend I drove to Auckland back in my 1991 ga15 Pulsar Hatch and returned 800km off a single tank, fill to fill, about 43 litres. So thats around 18.6km/L

I always thought people were full of it when saying numbers like that but its fully possible! Round town driving I regularly get 700km.

Just interested to see what others have managed.

My best was 12.9km/L, after installing new engine with new oxy sensor. Seems to have gone back down after a few months tho.

That said.. its a Pulsar :P Of course youll win this one!

My ae111 used to do 600km for a tank of 98 or I could do auckland to wellington (with my heavy foot) on 3/4 of a tank so roughly 30L so whats that

so according to google maps thats 651km so 651km/30L is what 21.7km per L or is my math wrong?

Note my levin weighs Fk all and was running a few mods :p

smooth trip without interruptions or delays and we werent $&#$% about either - none of this "im on a eco drive so ill drive the whole way at 75kmh" nonsense - speed limit all the time and WOT to get to the speed limit :D

Thats crazy if its accurate.

Yeah it was 660kms from BP in Lower Hutt, the long way round to Kapiti, through Taupo and up to Queen St Auckland.

Best I have gotten was 5.7l per 100 in the gf,s corolla. Average in mine is closer to 9 per 100 I guess that is the difference between a 91 and a 05 motor

Just finished a road trip down to Dunedin and back in my Honda Saber, just driving "normally" so overtaking where overtaking was required, aircon blasting much of the time, periods of cruising just over 100km, windy/hilly roads, around town driving, and generally tiki-touring places. If my memory and calculations are at all correct it must have averaged around 8.7l/100km.

I basically filled up in Wellington, went out to Silverstream to pick up my old man, drove back to the ferry terminal and went to Picton where I drove to Timaru before doing the first tank there (46 litres to get thus far). From there drove to Dunedin, spent 4 days lurking around doing general stuff, then drove back to Oamaru where I put the second tank in (was near 50litres, can't remember if more or less) and that tank got home.

Not setting any records there, but I'm reasonably happy given its a fairly large car which had at least 2 people (and a weeks worth of luggage) up to 5 people, and driven like you'd just "drive" if you were doing this kind of trip.

Gets fairly well thrashed on the windy roads in and out of Gisborne. Best of 6.1L/100km.

Daihatsu Mira 850cc highway tank would get me 20km/l every single time

AE110 Sprinter 5AFE I've almost matched that, with 19km/l. The *worst* I've ever managed to get out of it is about 14.5km/l in the Sprinter.

Unless you actually filled it back up and only needed 30L it will be incorrect. 3/4, 1/2 and 1/4 will not be exact amounts as fuel tanks aren't square etc. I get my fuel light on at random times between 1/2 and zero on the gauge. IF it was accurate though, it would be closer to 40L used, which would still be impressive. Full to full is the only way to measure accurately.

Best for me would have been a CHCH to Nelson trip where I got about 600km before empty. So still not impressive for a 50L tank.

A few weeks ago i flew down to Queenstown to pickup a Audi Q7 3.0 tdi for my sister, used 3/4 tank to Picton, topped it up in Wellington and used 1/2 a tank to get back to Aucks. Not bad for a 2 ton 4WD! I wasn't driving it like a nana either, was very impressed with it!!
