New corolla Levin ZR hatch

Whats the deal with these? Just pulled up behind one at the lights and saw the levin badging, and suddenly had hopes of another generation of decent corollas. Not sure on the styling, didn't make me blow chunks, but no instant wood either.

So yeah, whats the deal? 2zzge? 6 spd? Boost?

Anybody driven one? any good or just another boring corolla?

^ Don't think we got Levins in that shape? I know the new 2013 Corolla has a levin grade, which looks to just be a luxury spec, but mechanically the same.

Did some googling and found that apparently no 6 spd manual for the ZR in NZ, only CVT with 7 spd semi-manual mode, only the base model GX gets the option of a left hand pedal.

103kW and dual VVT-i sounds like an updated 1zzfe. Oh well, back to saving for a facelift gt86 in 3 years or so.

Twenty two years and Toyota is using an engine that makes no more power than a small port 4age?

I guess Toyota has been resting on those '80s and '90s laurels, when they actually used to make a car that was better equipped and cheaper than the competition. Now they have the opposite, but with Harley Davidson marketing they still sell.

Power figures don't sell cars like this though, that's why more often than not the stat that get to the top of the features list is fuel economy. And the sort of person likely to buy a car based on power probably isn't the sort of person who is going to be buying a new Corolla.

Yeah, I think they're all auto. They are paddle shift though, so would still be a "fun" car to drive.

iirc the new Corolla has a couple kw more than the now old model.... thats gotta be better than nothing atleast

From what specs I've found, they're not a huge amount lighter than an Aurion. Think they're still near 1600kg!

1475kgs from what I can find. That isn't that bad really. It's surprising how heavy most modern cars are, even the small ones.

Aurion is >1800

Current Aurion is about 1500kg / first of them was about 1600kg give or take 20kg.... Go pretty well considering weight of them then

Maybe I was reading an aussie site, pretty sure they said they were comparable to Commodes for weight. Certainly does get up and go
