car inspection, auckland north shore / red beach

Postby rollaholic » Mon May 13, 2013 8:43 pm

hey all,

my sister is wanting to get a car checked out on the shore (red beach) in auckland that she is looking at buying.

was wondering if anyone can recommend a good inspection service other than the AA.

hoping for maybe a one man mobile operation, to cut down on the variable results you get with places like AA depending on what guy happens to get the job on the day.

thoughts appreciated!

cheers

This dude sounds switched on. www.incarautomotive.co.nz/‎
In Car Automotive Mobile Mechanic Phone 027 694 6227 Carl will come to you anywhere in Auckland. WOF, servicing, pre-purchase car inspections.

I've also had the following recommended (all north of the bridge apparently)
Sunrise Autos, Glenfield (09)4448884
Amac Automotive, Albany (owner Lance is a toyota man)
And Ashly from Enterprise motors 09 4809335 gave me good service with a pre purchase inspection.

Not much help in this case, but I'd steer clear of VTNZ Pukekohe.

Got a clean sheet on the pre-purchase inspection of our Mazda, other than a cracked master cylinder cap and "low" front pads. Within 6 weeks of owning it we were up for new front pads and rotors plus both front calipers rebuilt as one piston was rusted solid.

Had an annoying knock through the steering from the day I picked it up, failed 1st WOF on both front lower arms, replaced them as the bushes were very worn, still has knock. Also had broken exhaust mount, and excessive edge wear on front tyres due to poor alignment.

As far as I'm concerned, a VTNZ inspection isn't worth the paper its written on.

A guy at work used Car Inspection Services when he bought an A8 privately from Auckland.

He was quite happy with the service, the report was detailed and accurate, and the guy was happy to run through it all on the phone.
