High mounted stop light (3rd brake light) required for WOF??

Postby 92gtst » Sat Jan 18, 2014 12:59 am

Is a high mounted stop light (3rd brake light) required for a WOF in a 1992 car? I can't see any sign of there being one, but the last owner may have just removed it after the last WOF also....

If it is required can anyone suggest somewhere in Wellington I could get one wired up - preferably CHEAP.... I really can't afford it at all but if I need it for a WOF I guess it has to be done...

It shouldn't take more than an hour would it?? It for a 1992 Toyota Windom

Reasons for rejection

1. A class MA vehicle first registered in New Zealand on or after 1 January 1990 is not fitted with one high-mounted stop lamp.
Reality: A nasty hallucination that is caused by excess blood in the alcohol stream.

corrola hatch correct? Theres more than likly something at pick a part you could use. Some times they are in rear wings, when removed some people dont realise they need toput another in.

They're pretty cheap from Repco and the like.. stick it on the windscreen, run the wires to the boot and splice into the brake light circuit. Surprised it doesn't have one though?

92 Windom - I think it must have been in the spoiler which the last owner removed, the rear windscreen wiper motor is where you'd normally find one in the rear.
