Describe a battery?

Postby cat007 » Mon Feb 24, 2014 4:38 pm

Hey

How do you describe the orientation of a car battery? i.e. positive terminal on the top left? Is there a 'code' system?

They usually talk about it as if the terminals are closet to you

I've always said front left of right, big or small post.

When I worked at Repco*, the Exide range had a code system of sorts.
For example, a typical Corolla battery would be an N310LP. Look at the battery with the posts closest to you.
N = compact?
310 = size/model
L = left hand positive
P = pencil post

Whereas an N310 would have the positive on the right hand side, and thick posts.
