Toyspeed Daytona Superlap Sprint Series Round 1
LOCATION: Daytona Raceway, Bennet St Palmerston North
DATE: Tuesday 27 Feb 07
TIME: 8.30pm or 2030hrs Be there 10 mins early for a brief, timings are restrictive so no dragging our feet.
COST: $25 per driver (thank Clint for the deals later)
MAJOR PRIZE CONTRIBUTOR: Toyota NZ (More to thank Clint for)

Priority and right of line goes to Toyspeed members first, then all others. Anyone disagree, discuss it here.

Events are:
practice, warmup laps
Race 1
Race 2
Race 3
Quick Drift session - Judged by a nominated spectator on the day... Sam?

Grid start random order for the first race, reverse grid for the rest, slowest first to fastest last. Get the checkered flag then into the pits where the fastest driver goes to the last kart, the slowest to the first kart and so on. Then grid up for race 2 and so on.

Note Race 3 maybe dropped if we run out of time - will discuss on the night at the briefing.

Points awarded, 10 for a first to 1 for a 10th each race. Points tally for 3 races determines the winner. Race 1 placings outrank subsequent races.
Example:
Driver 1: Race 1 - 2nd (9pts), R2 - 1st (10pts), R3 - 4th (7pts) = 26pts
Driver2: Race 1 - 1st (10pts), R2 - 3rd (8tps), R3 - 3rd (8pts) = 26pts
Driver 2 wins over Driver 1 due to higher first race placing.

If we get enough interest we will split the group up (ie if we have more than 10 each time) and run two seperate series ( like and East Coast vs West Coast Supercross event) with the top 5 from each group racing in an "All In" at year end.

If this works, maybe its time we all tagged up some cheap Toyspeed overalls for go karting?

Going to be run on a 3 sprint race format. Points awards toward an over all winner on the night, winner at the end of the year from each race session, plus prizes for:
The fastest single lap (Superlap)
The "18 second Club"
Best Drift - starting from the start finish line through to the first turn of the split section - so its not a power slide but a bunch of linked drifts.
Biggest UNINTENTIONAL wreck.
