Shock absorber install

Hey,

Just moving down to Levin tomorrow (Wednesday).

Sometime this week or next week I need to replace my shocks in my Celica. Unfortunately I won't have a place to do this or the tools as I'm heading down with clothes on back to start with.

Would any kind soul be able to provide me with a space and some tools and possibly a helping hand to do this? In return I can provide a couple or so dozen.

Why on earth are you moving to Levin anyway? Why not somewhere infinitely more awesome, like Taihape.

It's where my new job is based. Almost double the money I'm on here with a fantastic opportunity. Would've been mad to turn it down.

But... that doesn't help my shock issue.

Dunno if there are any members in Levin, but if you need a place to work I have a driveway + tools for africa.

And if you wish for someone closer and with access to brads tools
+ local knowledge of levin and reaplacing shocks in celica's i have all of above. I also have some tool of my own and access to spring compressors to do job if brads out of town and has his dog gaurding the tool shed again :)

Well why don't we turn it into a get together day. I have the shocks now but I'll be buggered if I know how to do them myself.

I've done the rears on a bluebird before but this seems more complex.

I can't have it where I currently am as it's my new boss' place and it would be a bit rude to go inviting people round. But if someone volunteers a place and a time (weekends are best). I have bought those cheap spring compressors from Super CHeap as they tended to do the trick last time.

I was thinking about doing them next saturday if anyone is available then.

I think it may take a bit longer than a meet to do 4 shocks. Also, wednesdays aren't remarkable fantastic for me.

I think i might come in as well, haven't been to one for a while myself so best come in so you can all see what the stress of married life does to one's hair :0

I'll bring all my tools I have with me in Levin atm...

1 sping compressor kit,
1 torque wrench,
1 1/2" socket extension,
1 3/8" Spark PLug socket (didn't look at it properly when I bought it)
1 tyre iron,
1 Hub cover remover thingee (read oil filter remover),

OH and I guess I'll bring:
The car,
The shocks,
new Split pins,
and myself.

Now they are complete struts and not inserts eh? Inserts will be nigh on impossible to do without a vice.

The rears are complete struts. As for the fronts you just need a monkey wrench. and a hammer. It's how we did it with the bluebird.
