that all depends on wether he will offer me a course that i cant afford to do or an actual placement 4 on the job trainning

Probably depend on how useful you are to start, and if you expect to be paid or not. Cant hurt to call and see what options there are anyway

i was considering that a while ago, but as i had no "industry experience" they chose someone with a pre-apprenticeship course certificate

The best idea is to find a job first. It ain't that hard if u really work on selling yourself. Thats how i got my apprenticeship. Having previous experience is a must but the main thing is a good work attitude. Oh and the otago polytech apprenticeship course is only $1 per credit so its really cheap
