Recommendation of a cheap/decent quality mechanic place.

Just recently have bought myself a 2nd hand car on trademe. 1988 Corsa 1.3L hatchback.

A couple of problems:
-It uses a lot of water (I'm hoping a blown gasket?)
-The accelerator must be flat on the floor in order to start the car (Carby is flooded?)

I'm hoping if someone knows anyone in Dunedin can do a wee job on this car, I don't want to spend too much as my budget is limited. My main concern is the cosumption of the water and I think steam/white smoke?! coming out from the exhaust.
