Teretonga Trackday events 2012\2013

For you guys up the road:

The Southland Sports Car Club are hosting a couple of Trackdays here at Teretonga if some of you are interested:

First one is Saturday, 13 October 2012:

Blurb from the Event pages:

Sign in : 11.00am - 12 noon (tbc)
Drivers briefing: 12 noon (tbc)
Arrive well before 11.30am
Grip and Drift driving permitted / will be given seperate track time

... Entry fee $60.00

You need :
*your car up to Wof standard (will be scrutineered)
*Cotton overalls, compliant helmet
*Drivers licence
*Attend the drivers briefing

*Cars will assemble on the dummy grid to be split into groups of (6-8 cars max) or categories ie modern/classic, race cars etc.
*Groups will be let out on the track with a 5sec gap between each car for 4-6 laps per session,aprox 10-15min in duration.
*You may line up as many times you like.
*Overtaking is only permitted in designated passing zones,
You will be told about this in the drivers briefing.

These days are aimed at leting you go for a leisurely dive and test you car,!.

We are always in need of some people to help run the day, especially flag marshals.

The tasks are very easy for any competent person.

indeed!

they are pretty good down here - if you aren't interested in going full on you can ask to go with the slow guys or if you want a bit of a challenge go with the more advanced drivers - they are good at organizing everyone into groups where everyone has fun and there have been no problems in the ones ive been to

what if you actually want to post a friggen lap time instead of going for a "leisurely drive" as you said.
Im guessing you cant pass unless your on a straight.. right?

give them a call and see if they would be willing to set up timing gear - or bring your own - im not anywhere near serious enough yet so i havent even thought about it myself - or BYO stopwatch?

thats correct no passing except on area that are marked out with cones - one being the straight and the other at the back of the track

these events are mainly to get new people out onto the track and for ham fisted apes like me to figure out how the hell a car works on a track - there are serious guys that take part - hell last time i went a guy was there with his own hoist system and had tire warmers on and the lot - but if you want to do the likes of timing and serious stuff hit them up and ask if they would be able to do such a thing for you
