yeah, well the reason I don't know anyone's numbers is my cell phone died... and the stupid MS cell phones put the contacts on the phone, not the sim by default, and don't have the ability to copy from phone to sim, only the reverse.

yay MS products...
it cycles on "boot", suspected faulty firmware upgrade.

Will find out whats up with the car later on today hopefully(assuming that they can have a look, their yard is full at the moment)
only sign that things werent quite right were that it turned over twice before it started on friday morning, and the idle was a little rough(and low at ~600rpm instead of 800 odd), but nothing too far out of the ordinary.

Oh yeah, new exhaust(less "ricey", more bling if that makes sense) arrived at Ridez, will be fitted once it is going again.

heh, a single broken wire, they said "it must have been stretched when they put the engine back in, and it shook loose on the drive to town"

so I pick it up this arvo.

I must add that my 85 rolla has been written off three times, none my fault, but the engine continues to run even though it has in the past been run with no/low oil for months(I was trying to kill it), and driven as hard as I could for ~6 years... and it still lives on, although it is now my sisters... 272000kms and it simply wont die, only had cam belt done regularly, and two clutches since it was bought in 1996.

my other sister has a 1990 corolla with 340000kms on it, and it has only recently have the clutch done for the first time, regular cam belts done of course. it is a tad rusty(lived in auckalnd then nelson) though and will be retired shortly.

usually they're fine, maybe mine was given a bollocking in japan land before it got here.

only 780kms of nana driving to go.

*I'm sure I read that the 3sge was aswell...

For your information yamaha have been designing and supplying engines and heads for toyota for 30 odd years 8O

Yeah we had an old 1980 Corona which apparently was on its second time around the clock when we got it off Mum's parents and that went hard for a while until everything went wrong at once.

Now likely resting in car heaven. :?

vvtl sensor on cylinder 4 was shorted, making it think that it was forever on, meaning too much gas being thrown into it, it ran way too rich, throwing the CEL...

The reason for the harsh start and rough idle was just too much gas apparently, which sounds plausible.

Total bill for car was $1920 + Engine at $4600, total I paid, $250, my mechanical insurance has paid for it self and then some...

easily...

What difference is 8km going to make :lol:

One the first drive once it was up to temperature I would've gone over 6k rpm. Whats the point of driving 1000km with it only then to find out if something was wrong. With 12,000km on there should be no reason stay away from redline.
